Recover Faster
The links below contain further information.

Recovery is highly correlated to your metabolism. Someone with a fast metabolism recovers faster that those with a slow one. First I'll go over supplements that help.

The most well known recovery supplement is HMB. What this does is decrease muscle breakdown. You NEED to breakdown muscle after workouts in order to get rid of the damaged muscle, and replace it with new tissue. Your body can get a little carried away with this process though - it trashes a lot more muscle than you would like. In order to avoid this, HMB slows the process.

HMB is only effective when you are working out at peak performance. It has an even greater effect for those who are doing more aerobics and dieting for fat loss. This supplement is highly recommended for those in this situation. It's expensive, so only use it when you are working your ass off. You WILL see the benefits.

Other than HMB, make sure to get the sleep you need, as this increases your metabolism. You may have noticed that when you don't get a lot of sleep, you are sore for longer than normal. Drugs or alcohol will also slow recovery greatly. Its better to recover faster, while your body has high levels of anabolic hormones flowing. The release of these hormones are stimulated by working out. This is why people who do squats regularly notice their upper body gets bigger too. Squats release A LOT of hormones, and they have an effect on the whole body, not just the legs.

Lastly, nutrition will have a great effect. As hormones are secreted when you eat larger amounts of food, dieting will slow your recovery. Be aware of this, and if you cut calories to lose fat, reduce the intensity of your workouts to avoid overtraining. When you are interested in gaining muscle, eating more will speed recovery.
